Beverage production is wet, heavy and rarely blessed with spare floor space. Product arrives in glass and plastic, lines get washed down constantly, some of what is being made is acidic enough to attack the equipment carrying it, and the height between process and packing usually has to be gained in a footprint that does not exist. LVP Automation builds stainless steel conveyor systems for beverage and drinks production covering all of it.

Heavy Lifting Modular Belt Conveyor

Lifting is where beverage lines get expensive, because the loads are heavy and the movement has to repeat identically every time. LVP Automation built a fully stainless steel lifting modular belt conveyor that raises over 100kg through a 300mm range in eight seconds.

The inertia, torque and speed figures were calculated in-house rather than taken from a catalogue, which is what makes an eight-second movement repeatable under load rather than optimistic. The motor is IP65 rated for the environment it works in, and the sequence runs on an Allen-Bradley PLC with interlocks, so the lift cannot move when it should not.

Spiral Conveyors

A soft drinks processor needed product taken off the factory floor and up onto ceiling-hung lines. LVP supplied twin spiral conveyors and the overhead system to carry it, moving the transport above head height and giving the floor back.

Spirals are the compact way to gain height, climbing in a footprint no conventional incline could manage. An accumulation belt sits in the run so a pause downstream backs product up instead of stopping the line, and the SEW drive was chosen to keep maintenance low on equipment that is awkward to reach once it is at ceiling level.

Glass and Plastic Jar Sauce Line

A sauce line running both glass and plastic jars, in more than ten different formats, needs a conveyor that can be changed over rather than rebuilt. LVP installed 150 metres of Carryline 83mm conveyor with lifters and manually adjustable guiderails to do exactly that.

Pneumatic jar stops control line pressure, so jars are not pushing against one another when the filler pauses — the usual cause of jamming and breakage on a glass line. Washdown stainless steel drip trays deal with what a sauce line inevitably spills. The package was turnkey: 3D design, throughput calculations and installation.

Stainless Curve Conveyors

Drinks concentrate is acidic, and acidic product finds the weak point in whatever carries it. LVP’s stainless curve conveyors were installed in a concentrate manufacturing plant and built to stand up to that.

Tight radius curves turn the line in the space available rather than the space a straight layout would prefer. Bearing housings are polypropylene for corrosion resistance, and an integrated E-STOP system is part of the build rather than an addition to it, so it matches the risk assessment for the line it sits in.

Water-Tight Conveyors (Jabucon Series)

Some beverage environments are simply wet: constant washdown, standing water and cleaning chemicals as a matter of routine. The Jabucon series is a stainless steel, water-tight conveyor built for those conditions, and it is used across food, drink and pharmaceutical production.

Because the designs are off the shelf, delivery is quicker and integration into an existing line is more straightforward than a bespoke build. Drives are IP66-rated Oriental brushless DC motors, sealed for an environment where water gets everywhere eventually.

How much can a lifting conveyor handle? The build above lifts over 100kg through a 300mm range in eight seconds. What matters as much as the weight is how often it has to repeat, because that drives the motor sizing rather than the peak load.

We need to gain height and have no floor space. What are the options? Spirals, usually. They climb in a footprint a conventional incline cannot manage, which is why the soft drinks system above uses twin spirals to reach ceiling-hung lines.

Can one line run both glass and plastic? Yes. The sauce line above handles more than ten product formats in glass and plastic, using adjustable guiderails and pneumatic jar stops. The practical limit is how different the formats are and how often you change over.

Our product is acidic. Does that change the build? Yes, mostly in the materials. The concentrate plant conveyors use polypropylene bearing housings for corrosion resistance alongside the stainless frame. It is worth raising early, because it is a material decision rather than an adjustment.

Do you work out throughput before building? On the jar line we supplied 3D design and throughput calculations as part of the package. Where throughput is genuinely uncertain, a simulation model answers it before anything is fabricated.

Off-the-shelf or bespoke? Both. The Jabucon series is off the shelf, which makes it faster to get and easier to integrate; the lifting conveyor and the jar line were designed for the job. Which is right depends on how unusual your requirement actually is.
