What a labelling system has to get right

A label is only useful if it lands in the same place every time, stays readable, and carries the data the next reader expects. That means three things working together: handling that presents the product squarely, an applicator that places the label without dragging or bubbling it, and print data that matches what the scanner downstream is looking for. Arca builds these as linear handling systems, so movement is driven rather than mechanically derived, which cuts wear and noise and keeps placement repeatable at line speed.

The Light and Solid series

Light is the compact series, with steel bases, stainless versions available, servo motors, one-side adjustments and millimetre scales for setting position by hand. Solid is the robust, expandable series, and it allows labellers on both operating sides, which is what you need when a product has to be labelled front and back or top and side in one pass. Solid covers the Combi, Skytech and Hightech configurations, and Hightech non-stop systems run at more than 350 pieces per minute.

Application positions

Wrap around up applies vertically with the labeller opposite the operator side; wrap around down handles horizontal cylindrical products on idle roller conveyors. Side, top and two-sides cover the flat panel cases, and Combi applies to multiple sides without replacing components. For lower volumes, the semi-automatic wrap around machines take manual loading and convert between seal, top, base and wrap around modes.

Format changes without change parts

Format change is where most labelling lines lose their day. Recipes hold the settings, so a change of SKU is a selection rather than a strip-down. The digital interface is a 4.3 inch colour touchscreen holding 200 product programs, each named up to 15 characters. Worktop height adjusts by 200 mm using the Arca Clip system, so the machine can be set to the conveyor rather than the conveyor to the machine.

Print, code and mark

Thermal transfer, thermal inkjet and fibre laser marking are all available, so the same handling platform can print a variable label, code directly onto the pack, or mark without consumables. Verification and traceability

The Graphic MMI 4.0 interface is a 10 inch industrial PC panel with an SSD, encrypted audit trail, biometric access control and SQL data export over USB or Ethernet, and it is built to comply with 21 CFR Part 11. Inline barcode scanning and verification checks that a label is present and grades it, so a failed label triggers a re-apply or a reject rather than reaching the customer.

Pharma, hygiene and harsh areas

Pharma Seal 4.0 is the tamper-evident case sealing machine, built in AISI 304 stainless in a compact balcony design with indexed toothed belt transport so cases cannot slip in the drive. Elsewhere the choice is a shot blasted steel finish or epoxy powder coated iron, with an IP54 electrical cabinet on the Light series and IP68 shielded cables. Rotating disks and spindles are built without dangerous openings and gaps are held under 4 mm, and the machines meet the EMC and Low Voltage directives.
